On Tuesday November 8, Members of this organization and large group non-member supporters attended the Knoxville City Council Meeting to show support for our petition to change the name of Sharp’s Ridge Memorial Park to include the word Veteran’s. Jessica King and Marilyn Childress addressed the council members with a statement of justification for this action and the petition was granted unanimously. This action generated a standing ovation by all present and was led by Mayor Madeline Rogero, who has been a great supporter of the project. One week later we received a copy of the Resolution stating that the park has been renamed as “Sharps Ridge Veterans Memorial Park.”
