This year VHSF helped to place flags on the gravesites of the Veterans who are buried in the Cades Cove cemetery within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We felt that these Veterans needed to be included in recognition of Veterans Day. With the help of Woodmen Chapter 1072 all of these flags were donated. In continued service to these Veterans VHSF has donated holiday wreaths from the Wreaths Across America program to be placed on all 32 of the gravesites for Christmas.
To date 163 veterans have been identified to have been buried in the GSMNP. In addition to the 32 gravesites in Cades Cove, there are 131 other Veterans who are buried in the other graveyards that dot the park. VHSF would like to collect enough donations to cover the cost of placing wreaths on each of their graves this year as well. If you would like to donate a wreath to the veterans buried in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park please donate at the online link below or mail your check to:

There are over 18,000 veteran gravesites in the 2 State Veteran Cemeteries and the National Cemetery in Knox County. VHSF and our fellow Veterans Organizations are collecting wreath donations to ensure that each of these graves have a holiday wreath.
